Environment is one of CoDesign + Sheldon's core values. We recognise the impact that traditional office fitouts have on landfill, on the carbon output of commercial buildings; and therefore on Country. That is why our vision for sustainable workplaces is led by our CEO Richard Swain's vision and actions towards regenerating Country.
A circular approach to design and construction
Through the management of CoDesign + Sheldon’s internal divisions, we oversee the project lifecycle from sustainable design and manufacturing, to waste management. This means that sustainability is a true priority, aligning with the processes of a circular economy, and complementing our core value of caring for the environment.
This includes the use of:
sustainably made materials
locally manufactured joinery (Central Coast NSW)
prioritising modular and adaptable furniture and design solutions
reuse of existing materials
recycling what cannot be reused
We’re going electric
Our first electric truck is an important step in our commitment to sustainable operations and caring for Country, reducing the carbon emissions of our deliveries to zero.
Calculating embodied carbon emissions of fitouts
We are partnering with The Footprint Company to use their Footprint Calculator. This allows us to calculate the embodied carbon emissions of projects. With an estimated 20-50% of carbon emissions in commercial buildings caused by fitouts, it’s crucial to reduce this figure.
